I am an independent illustrator and art director based in South Africa. My practice sits between visual storytelling, contemporary botanical drawing, and art direction for cultural publishing. I work with ink, watercolor, and a strong sense of editorial structure.
My clients are independent publishing houses, cultural festivals, and local stationery brands. I also take on personal commissions — original artworks, bespoke portraits, and illustrated gifts. Each project starts with a conversation about what you want to say, and ends with a piece that carries your intention.

Illustrator & Art Director
Trained in editorial design, with a decade of experience in ink and watercolor illustration. Leads every project from the first sketch to the final print file, and handles client communication directly.

Print Production & Color Management
Oversees color proofing and paper selection for limited-edition prints and festival posters. Works closely with local printers in Cape Town to keep the final output true to the original artwork.

Compiles visual references, keeps the travel sketchbook archive organized, and supports the research behind botanical series. His background in cultural history adds context to each project's narrative.

Every commission starts with a conversation about the story you want to tell. We discuss format, timeline, and the level of detail before any drawing begins. For book covers and festival posters, we usually work in two rounds of sketches, then move to final artwork once the direction is clear.
Custom portrait and botanical commissions follow a similar path, with a short questionnaire to capture the mood and palette you have in mind.
